it was a rough shoot with a million problems, my stomach was hurting from too much popcorn, my left contact lens was bugging me, and just a million little problems! I was pretty sure I’m gonna want to re-shoot it but minus my slouchy performance, I’m actually really happy with it! ALSO! I’m really excited I was finally able to incorporate some pad action, first time for me. I don’t think I did an hhhaamazing job at picking sounds that match Danny’s tabla but A for effort? DRUMS ONLY avail on Patreon, as well as an anxiety filled complaint ridden BTS video. haha!

Tool is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1990, the group’s line-up includes drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Justin Chancellor has been the band’s bassist since 1995, replacing their original bassist Paul D’Amour. Tool has won three Grammy Awards, performed worldwide tours, and produced albums topping the charts in several countries.
10,000 Days is the band’s fourth studio album. The title 10,000 Days refers to roughly the orbital period of the planet Saturn (actual time period is 10,759 days), which adds up to nearly 29 years and marks, according to Keenan, “the time when you are presented the opportunity to transform from whatever your hang-ups were before to let the light of knowledge and experience lighten your load, so to speak, and let go of old patterns and embrace a new life.” Keenan expected that the songs composed would “chronicle that process, hoping that my gift back would be to share that path and hope that I could help somebody get past that spot.” It is rumoured that the album is a reference to Maynard James Keenan’s mother who was paralyzed for 10,000 days (27 years) before she died.
Tool’s drummer Danny Carey has laid claim to various drumming techniques that use sacred geometric figures such as the unicursal hexagram. The final product is very recognizable, fluent drumming, although to him it is much more: the official Tool website claims that Danny uses drumming as a ritual similar to occult rituals, with purposes varying from spiritual exploration to “a gateway [which] summoned a daemon he has contained…that has been delivering short parables similar to passages within The Book of Lies”. Another geometric reference from the website was the inclusion of Nothing in This Book Is True… by Bob Frissell on the band’s recommended reading list, a book that deals with sacred geometry and the evolution of human consciousness.
