I was going through a bunch of different bands u suggested I’d check out, came across this kickass song, and for the last month or so, it’s been my new fav song, which I then proceed to suck the life out of, by looping it on repeat when I drive – It would drive any human over the edge, but Django doesn’t seem to mind. Anyways check it out. And help me find a new song to obsess over.

Periphery is a Grammy-nominated American metal band based in Washington, D.C., formed in 2005. Their musical style has been described as progressive metal as well as djent. They are considered one of the pioneers of the djent movement within progressive metal.

Periphery was formed in 2005 by guitarist Misha Mansoor. Before and during Periphery’s tenure in the metal scene, Mansoor developed a reputation for doing his own audio production, the majority of which was performed with a home computer and a Pod XT. Mansoor also continues to be involved in a number of other musical projects, including Haunted Shores, Four Seconds Ago, and Of Man Not of Machine.

Fun Fact

On the band’s writing process, guitarist Jake Bowen: “Everybody is so generous and empathetic and knows it’s not all about one person. People know when it’s time to take the lead, or time to let someone else to pick up the forward momentum. Everyone has this mentality so it makes it really easy to get along. It would be a mess if we didn’t have the personalities that we have or the experience. We’ve gone through everything so we know how to deal with any issue democratically”.

Periphery live at Revolution, Ft. Lauderdale, FL – January 14, 2015
